Getting Devices to Talk

Dealing with Modbus RTU, MQTT, M-Bus, LoRaWAN, and SML. Getting smart meters, power analyzers, and industrial sensors to actually talk to each other. Turns out most protocols have "quirks" – that's the polite term.

Open Source Tooling

Spending a lot of time with OpenWrt and embedded Linux. Cross-compiling, breaking things, occasionally fixing them. Open source makes most of this possible, so giving back seems fair.

Automated Wake-on-LAN scheduler for OpenWrt routers. Schedule device wake-ups via cron jobs and send magic packets across VLANs. Because manually waking up servers at 3am is nobody's idea of fun.
